IT is good to hear both from the new leader of the city council and from you ('Devolution needs votes', June 16) references to York as the seat of the future regional government of Yorkshire.
York is the right place for the regional assembly and the right place for a fine new assembly building exists in its very heart. The council should forthwith designate for this purpose the historic site between Clifford's Tower and the Women's Prison, overlooking the Eye of Yorkshire.
What other Yorkshire town could match that?
