MORE than 1,000 York properties were believed to have been left without running water this morning after a burst pipe disrupted the supply to New Earswick and parts of Huntington.
Residents were left without running water for almost two hours after a water main burst in Haxby Road just before 7.15am.
Yorkshire Water was notified of the problem just after 7.30am and workers spent more than one hour isolating the burst.
A temporary supply was installed to all but one of the affected households just before 9am, and the mains supply was expected to be reconnected by lunchtime.
Peter Giles, deputy director of property services at Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, said the trust had been inundated with calls.
