VALE OF YORK MP Anne McIntosh wants transport bosses to protect a regional air service which takes North Yorkshire business leaders to London.
The Tory transport spokesman has been concerned by cuts in other regional services, such as the link between Plymouth and the capital.
In the House of Commons, she asked for a guarantee that the British Midland flight from Teesside would not be axed.
The service is used by local business chiefs to fly into London, as well as politicians travelling to the House of Commons at the beginning and end of each week.
Ms McIntosh told Transport Secretary Alistair Darling it played a key "strategic role" and provided a "lifeline" for firms.
She urged Mr Darling to ensure that the flight is given a guaranteed "slot" by the Government.
Mr Darling stopped short of a commitment to protect the service.
But he said: "The BMI flight from Teesside to London is an example of a very good regional service."
