POTTING ace Steve Gregson saw his hopes of securing a York and District Snooker Association double dashed by Barry Heltstrip,
Gregson claimed the YDSA Junior crown after beating Jordan Worobec 2-1 in a best of three frames final.
Fresh from his junior win, Gregson was hotly-tipped to then take the main handicap event, the YDSA Individual Knockout title.
However, giving a 14-point start to rival Helstrip proved to much, as Gregson slipped to a 2-0 defeat.
Against Worobec, Gregson took the opening frame 58-44 after a 31-break.
Worobec hit back in the second with breaks of 32 and 16 to take the frame 61-31 only for Gregson to comfortably win the third and final frame 52-21.
In the Individual Knockout, the opening frame was littered with missed opportunities before Helstrip took charge, potting a long pink to seal it 56-40.
The second frame was another close affair but a misjudged snooker attempt on the pink proved Gregson's downfall as Helstrip won 64-51 to take the title.
The event was sponsored by Cueball Snooker Club and Heworth Minibuses.
