MORE than 200 enthusiasts turned up to display their restored machines at Selby's tenth annual classic motorbike rally.
Held in Selby Park, the rally attracted bikers from all over Yorkshire and the north-east.
Among them were George Toone and his wife, Hazel, from Cawood. Mr Toone has restored a 1960 650cc Triumph Trophy TR6 and a 1962 650cc Triumph Trophy TR6 SS. The oldest motorcycle on display was a pre-war Aerial Square 4, owned by a man from South Kirkby, near Pontefract.
The 1000cc four-cylinder machine, built in the 1930s, proved a big attraction, although the day ended on a depressing note for the owner when one of the cables snapped and he had to get the breakdown services out to take him home. The event was organised by Selby District Council's park and leisure officer, Mike Harrison.
He said: "The weather was superb and we had a good turn-out of both enthusiasts and members of the public.
"There were no classes or judging. We try to keep it informal and easy-going and everybody seems to like that approach."
