After three races in the five-race Sweatshop York District Road League, Knavesmire Harriers' Cameroon Brooks looks set to take the overall title for the first time.
Having achieved comfortable victories in the first two races at Pocklington and Tadcaster only guest runner Richard Burney prevented a hat-trick of wins in the Easingwold race. Ultra distance specialist Ian Anderson (Knavesmire) lies second with veterans Bob Duncan (York Acorn) and Mike Siddall (Pocklington) level on points in the battle for third.
The leading runner in the Over-50 category is Simon Richardson (Pocklington), while Malcolm Fawcett (Knavesmire) leads the O60 category. Despite the absence of numerous leading runners from both clubs York Acorn hold a small advantage over rivals Knavesmire Harriers in the team race.
In the women's race, the supremacy of Knavesmire's Lisa Guscott-Trout has not been challenged with two wins by more than two minutes.
York Acorn veteran Dawn Gibbs won the Tadcaster race in Guscott-Trout's absence but is facing a challenge for second place in the league from improved Rebecca Weekes (Knavesmire) and Pocklington's Christine Jeanette. The women's team race is proving to be the closest for many years with York Acorn holding a narrow advantage over Knavesmire.
The final two races are at Bishop Wilton and Selby.
