A KERBSIDE recycling project which offered 12 jobs to York residents has met with a fantastic response, according to council chiefs.
City of York Council has revealed that more than 350 people applied to become part of the authority's kerbside recycling scheme. Phil Abram, of commercial services, said: "The response has been fantastic. People see this sort of job as worthwhile because they're part of something new that will improve York's environment."
The four drivers and eight recycling staff will work as teams alongside the existing two crews to collect and sort kerbside recyclable rubbish as part of the council's expansion of its current scheme.
