AN action-seeking group of adventurers did not allow their disability to get in their way when they took part in a flying day in York.
The 15-strong group of people with multiple sclerosis had the opportunity to fly a motor glider, be towed to 2,000 feet in a sailplane, fly a microlight or go tandem hang-gliding during the event at Rufforth Airfield on Saturday.
Richard Hails, chairman of the York branch of the MS Society, was among the group of high fliers who took the opportunity of a lifetime to see the city from a different viewpoint.
He said: "It was very enjoyable, I was in the air for about half an hour. When I got in the power glider he asked me where I wanted to go so I asked to go over Haxby, and I flew over where I live.
"I think everybody that went up certainly enjoyed it."
The event was one of a series of flying days made possible by a £5,000 grant from the MS Society Millennium Awards Scheme.
The day was organised by Alun White, a trustee of the MS Society, who himself has MS.
