THE Friends of Rawcliffe Meadows are holding their annual walkabout on Thursday, an opportunity for children and adults to discover the abundant creatures that live there.
The area has been well recorded over the 12 years of management, and the meadow, wetland and copsed areas of the site are home to numerous rare and endangered species - such as the large and iridescent but nationally rare tansy beetle, whose remaining stronghold is in the Ouse corridor, but which can be easily seen on the meadows.
Meet at the Rawcliffe Meadows pond at 7.30pm. You will need suitable clothing for walking a mile or two, especially if the weather is wet. The pond is at the southern end of the site, adjacent to the Clifton Sports Club.
