THE Archbishop of York, Dr David Hope, met York Minster's Chapter to discuss the proposed closure of the cathedral's library.
A spokesman for Dr Hope said the private meeting on Friday afternoon was constructive and held in a positive atmosphere.
"The Archbishop was pleased to hear that the Chapter is continuing to listen attentively and consider carefully the responses and correspondence it has received from many sources over the past two weeks," he said. He revealed that a further meeting would be held in the near future. He said that neither the Minster nor the Archbishop would be speaking to the media on the subject until after that meeting had taken place.
The meeting was organised after a storm of protest at the closure proposals.
