A NORTH Yorkshire-based anti-bullying network has won a national award for its innovative use of technology.
Bullying Online, a registered national charity helping parents and pupils deal with school bullying, is the winner of the Digital Inclusion category, sponsored by BT, of the eWell-Being Awards, for its use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to reduce social exclusion.
Bullying Online, which is based in Harrogate, was set up specifically to operate on the internet, and provides practical information 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to help families and victims deal with the trauma of school bullying. It is used as a resource by schools, the police and health professionals.
By using the latest technology, the Bullying Online website is updated frequently to reflect changing legislation, and contains 30 sections including advice on dealing with racist abuse, help for bullies and their parents, information for schools on bullying policies, advice on exclusions and appeal procedures, and guidance on internet safety and the dangers of chatrooms.
