YORK City Knights face one of their most crucial games tomorrow with player-coach Paul Broadbent confident they can continue their good run.
The Knights visit high-flying Hunslet Hawks at South Leeds Stadium (kick off 3.30pm) going for a third win on the trot, a feat they have not before accomplished in their short history.
A disappointing start to the National League Two campaign has been followed by impressive defeats of Barrow and Swinton and prop Broadbent is looking for his charges to continue their climb.
"It's a big game for us and I'm hoping we will rise to the occasion," he told the Evening Press.
"We've put in two reasonably competent performances recently with the guys showing what they can do."
Hunslet, though, have won all but one of their league matches and lie just two points off Keighley and five ahead of York.
"They're going really well, playing with confidence, and they've got quality players," said Broadbent. "We're going to have to be on the ball to keep them quiet.
"If we don't match them for commitment we're going to have a tough challenge.
"But we're a lot more controlled and showing more confidence. The guys are looking like different players now as they're playing with confidence."
Broadbent said the record of three consecutive wins was not in their thinking.
"At the end of the day it's a week on week thing and we've got to approach every game with the same commitment and effort," he said.
"It's not about using things like three wins on the trot to make a difference. It's a professional edge the guys have shown in the last three weeks that is important and if they keep that going the results will come."
Broadbent will be without second-row Scott Fletcher as he is still struggling with a knee problem, while, as reported by the Press, Matt Blaymire has been ruled out for the season, with Leigh Deakin set to take his place on the wing.
Newcomer Lee Moreton could come in if niggles in the squad do not clear up but he is otherwise unlikely to be risked as he too has a slight knee problem.
Knights: from Smith, Deakin, Hallas, Law, Godfrey, Callaghan, Rhodes, Brough, Hayes, Jackson, Burland, Broadbent, Forsyth, Cain, Ramsden, Krause, Embleton, Molloy, Bolus, Stannard.
