A MAGICAL wonderland has been created by keen gardener Sheila Markwick - with the help of St Leonard's Hospice mascot Lenny Bear.
Green-fingered Sheila has been working to ensure her nursery-rhyme garden is ready for the public next Saturday and Sunday in aid of the hospice in Tadcaster Road, York.
Among the attractions of the garden, at 84 Albion Avenue, Acomb, is a Teddy Bear's Picnic scene, which Lenny Bear has been keen to help with, as well as Humpty Dumpty, the Owl And The Pussycat and Alice In Wonderland figures.
Sheila, pictured here with her husband Arthur, regularly opens her garden, with its pond and stream, in aid of the hospice.
She will be selling plants and small garden ornaments, light refreshments will be available and there will also be the chance to win a prize on a tombola.
June is Hospice Awareness Month, and Sheila said she wanted visitors to wear something yellow - the colour of sunflowers, the symbol of the Hospice Movement.
