WEE Wonders was a title never more appropriate than during the East Riding qualifier held at Kilnwick Percy Golf Club.
Of the seven host club tots who took part in the Professional Golfers' association-backed 'Wee Wonders' event four qualified for the regional final in Wigan next month.
Leading the way over a special course marked out with distances ranging from 60 to 120 yards was five-year-old Jonathan Ingle. Jaws dropped in sheer amazement as Kilnwick Percy's youngest Academy member almost drove the green on the 120-yard first hole en route to him qualifying for the five-years boy's regional final.
The other Kilnwick Percy qualifiers - all playing in their first open competition - were George Walker (boys 7-8), Briana Hair (girls 7-8) and Ailis Mackison-Flynn (girls 9-10).
In the other sections the qualifiers included Laceby GC's Robert Mackay (boys 9-10) and Filey GC's Philip Gilbank (boys 11-12).
Philip Beard, the Golf Foundation's northern officer, assisted on the day.
