YORK Wasps nearly man Diccon Edwards has returned to his hometown rugby union club, Selby, as reported by the Evening Press yesterday.
The former Pocklington schoolboy, now 30, played for Castleford among other clubs, as well as Wales, at rugby league, and for Leicester, Wakefield and Newport among others at union. He will now be Selby's coach.
His time at Huntington Stadium was short-lived, as he signed for the Wasps in the summer of 1999 but left before playing a game after his union club, Leeds Tykes, said they would not pay him while playing league and that he faced the prospect of picking up an injury which would put his new Tykes contract at risk.
