PEDAL power and manpower will combine next month when the Cancer Research UK Cycle For Life comes to York Racecourse.
The 15-mile bike ride takes place on Sunday, July 6, to raise money to fund the charity's pioneering research into cancers which affect men.
The event follows on from last month's successful Race For Life, also at York Racecourse, which has so far raised £102,000 in York and over £1million nationally for research into women's cancers.
Cancer Research UK event organiser Melanie Heath said: "Cycle For Life is about friends and family getting together and doing their bit for the boys.
"Of the 312,000 men diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK, approximately 80,000 will die from the disease.
"It is events such as Cycle For Life that will help us cure cancer faster. In the last ten years alone mortality rates from cancer in men have fallen by over 16 per cent."
York Cycle Hire, under Lendal Bridge, is offering a 25 per cent discount on all cycle hire for the event when you present your entry number.
The company will also be providing bike maintenance service at the shop before the event and on the day.
To take part in the Cycle For Life phone the event hotline on 0870 1611010 or visit www.cycleforlife.co.uk.
Entry costs £7.50 for adults and £4.50 for under 18s.
