A hole that appeared in a York Street earlier this week was being mended today.
Peter Evely, City of York Council's head of highway regulation, said damage to a storm drain had caused the hole in Walmgate, and council workers were due to rectify the problem by the end of the day.
Yorkshire Water investigated the site with CCTV cameras on Wednesday to check for a collapsed sewer. A diversion has been operating via Hope Street for most of this week.
