A BROWN Owl who has been in charge of her Brownie pack in Cawood for more than 20 years is looking for a successor to take over.
Janet Buckle, 52, is leaving her 20 Brownies when she moves back to her birthplace of York, from her home in Wistowgate, Cawood, next month.
Janet has been at the helm of Cawood Brownies for 23 years, having been involved in the movement since she was 21.
"While it is time to move on, I will be sad if they have to close," said Janet, who plans to continue her involvement with Brownies by helping out at a pack in Heworth.
"The girls could maybe go elsewhere, but it would be nicer for them to stay in Cawood." Anyone interested in becoming a Brown Owl would receive full training and police checks before taking over from Janet.
The pack currently meets on a Wednesday, between 6pm and 7.30pm at the Old Boys' School in the village, but this can be altered if necessary.
The new Brown Owl would also receive support from a group of keen helpers.
If you are interested in becoming the next Cawood Brown Owl, contact Janet on 01757 218817.
