Heworth Amateur Rugby League Club star Carl Potter is in the running for a prestigious National Conference League award.
The goalkicking stand-off, who was one of six York-based players to be selected for the Yorkshire Under-23s amateur squad at the end of the season, is on the shortlist for the NCL division two player-of-the-year award as selected by fellow players and clubs.
Pictured right, Potter, who helped the Villagers finish in third place, just missing out on promotion, will be up against Scott Teare, of champions Wath Brow Hornets, and Jason Blakey, of runners-up Milford Marlins.
The winner will be named as the league's annual dinner and presentation evening on Saturday.
Heworth PRO Ken Sykes said: "It is great credit to Carl that he has made the final three, win or lose."
Meanwhile, the annual general meeting of Heworth ARLFC takes place at the Villagers' Elm Park Way clubhouse on Sunday, starting at 10.30am. All fully paid members are invited to attend and vote.
