A YORK teacher will become one of the youngest secondary heads in North Yorkshire when he takes up his new post.
At only 38, John Tomsett, the present deputy head at Huntington School, will be among the youngest heads in the county when he takes up his new role at Lady Lumley's School, Pickering.
John started his career in 1988 at Eastbourne Sixth Form College before becoming the director of sixth form at Hove Park School in Brighton.
He moved to York five years ago to work at Huntington School and said he would stay in the city.
He said: "I am really looking forward to the new job, it is an enormous challenge especially with what is going on in school with funding at the moment.
"I have learned a great deal at Huntington School.
"It is a cracking school, the value it adds to the kids' learning is immense."
He replaces Norman Corner who will be taking over as the head of Stokesley School.
