A new deputy chief constable has been appointed to North Yorkshire Police and given the task of making further changes to the force's structure.
Roger Baker, who is now assistant chief constable for Staffordshire Police, will take over the role from Peter Walker later this year.
Mr Baker said his new role would be "far from an easy job" and pledged to improve the delivery of policing services in the county.
Chief Constable Della Cannings said: "Mr Baker has an excellent professional reputation." She said his work was highly regarded.
Jane Kenyon, chairman of North Yorkshire Police Authority, said Mr Baker would work towards modernising and changing the organisation of the force.
His key responsibilities will be strategic development, performance and quality issues within North Yorkshire Police.
