JUST outside the top ten, but York angler Lin Brind was a major hit in the Embassy Ladies national championships in Cheshire.
The owner of the Acomb Tackle Shop in Kingsthorpe, finished in a creditable 11th place in the individual rankings of the prestigious event, much to her delight.
Said the 50-year-old rod-woman: "I had a good day's fishing and I was pleased to have come 11th in such a major competition."
The York ace was fishing the Arles Pool in the championships staged at the Preston Innovations Woodland View, near Droitwich. She reeled in a haul of tench and carp on worm and luncheon meat on size 14 hook, fishing at seven to eight metres, for an overall weight of 14.160 kilogrammes.
She also represented the Tang Hall Match Group 'A'-team, which came home in seventh place with a total weight of 35.240kg.
