NEARLY 300 Yorkshire countrywomen crowded into the new Ebor Stand at York Racecourse to celebrate a very special event.
Members of the Yorkshire Countrywomen's Association were at the new £20 million facility for a luncheon to mark the organisation's 20th anniversary.
The association chose York as the centre for its celebrations, following an April service of Thanksgiving in York Minster.
Members are looking forward to providing craft demonstrations at the Great Yorkshire Show next month, a day at the Merchant Adventurers Hall on September 17, and a carol service in the Minster on December 5.
Barbara Hird, county chairman, said: "This is a very special day for us. We're celebrating 20 years of the association - not just appealing to older ladies, but appealing to younger ones too."
