POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an assault in a York street early today.
A man was attacked by six people outside Waterstones bookshop, in High Ousegate, at about 2.40am.
He was taken by ambulance to York Hospital suffering from head injuries.
One attacker was described as a white man, wearing a blue and white checked short sleeved shirt, with a tanned appearance, stocky build and dark hair. He was seen heading towards Piccadilly.
