DECADES of Brownie and Guide history in York have come to an end.
Ann Bowes, who first started helping at a Brownie pack in the early 1950s, has attended her last meeting of the 30th York Brownies.
It was marked with a special celebration, attended by figures from York's current and past Brownie and Guiding scene.
Ann became a Queen's Guide when she was just 16 and a Tawny Owl at 17.
Just four years later she gained her Brown Owl warrant, serving in the position for 44 years.
Colleague Myra Puckrin said Ann would be missed by both young and old in the Heworth community.
Myra said: "It is impossible to measure the contribution Ann made, supported all the way by her husband, Les, and both their children.
"She loved the Brownies and Guides and that really showed. Everyone is extremely grateful for Ann's work and wants to wish her well for the future."
