BARBICAN increased their lead at the top of division one of the York Veterans' Bowls League with wins against Huntington WMC and Dunnington 'C'.
Nearest rivals Holgate were beaten by Dunnington 'C', but then redeemed themselves with a 26-7 victory over Bert Keech 'C'. They now trail Barbican by two points.
Division two leaders Holgate WMC suffered their first defeat of the season when losing at home 23-8 against Museum. They then won at Wigginton 'C' 20-6 and head the division by two points.
West Park 'A' are in second place, beating Wigginton 'A' 20-10 after losing 19-12 at Poppleton 'C'.
In division three, Bootham and Poppleton 'A', who have both dropped only one point, clash next week at Clarence Gardens. Bootham, after beating Bishopthorpe 'B' 22-10, dropped their first point at Acomb 'B' in a 14-14 draw. Poppleton 'A' just beat Acomb 'B' 19-8 and then had an easy 25-7 win over Nestl 'B'.
RI Amateurs, who head division four, are now the only team in the entire league with a 100 per cent record.
They beat Acomb 'A' 15-12 and Nestl 'C' 20-12. West Park 'C' and Nestl 'C' trail the leaders by two points.
Osbaldwick 'A' have opened up a three-point gap at the top of division five with easy wins over Copmanthorpe 'A' and Dringhouses 'A'.
Forum 'A' took over second place by beating Osbaldwick 'B' 27-14.
Stamford Bridge 'B' head division six, but suffered their first defeat against Fulford Cons 'A', losing 20-12.
RI Spartans, Dringhouses 'C' and Copmanthorpe 'B' are only two points adrift.
