ATMOSPHERIC, dark and industrial, the soundtrack to The Matrix Reloaded flows seamlessly from start to finish.
Packed with special effects, the futuristic tracks conjure images of the film's majestic fighting and bleak battles. Including heavy rock tracks from Marilyn Manson, Linkin Park and Rage Against the Machine, it is far from easy listening. But the more upbeat numbers such as When The World Ends by the Dave Matthews Band provide something approaching light relief. By far the catchiest track is P.O.D.'s Sleeping Awake, which unsurprisingly was released as a single last month. This is perhaps the only tune you'll be humming later. Don Davis's film score, which dominates the second CD in the set, is spine-chilling, affecting and at times eerily religious. Climactic orchestral movements and screaming vocals create a masculine soundtrack, which could only belong to a science-fiction epic.
