CELEBRATING 20 years of marriage, Christine and Neil Hamilton last night enjoyed a toast in York.
The couple were in the city courtesy of the University of York Wine Society who greeted them with a sparkling wine reception.
"It is lovely to be back in York," said Christine, a former resident of Goodricke College at the university.
"They wrote to me a while ago asking me if I would be patron of the society, but I get a lot of requests so I was unsure.
"Then they told me that their motto is 'Oxford spits, York swallows', and I thought that's it, with a motto like that I've just got to do it."
Referring to her life in the media spotlight, Christine said: "I am just a pussy cat, I really am not a battleaxe.
"After some of the names I have been called in the papers, I thought I might as well come up with one of my own.
"And perhaps its true, a battleaxe is just a woman with balls, and I am very well endowed."
Society chairman Nick Hemingway said: "It is fantastic to have Christine and Neil here, we know they enjoy a good time.
"Her book might say she's a battleaxe, but I would just say Christine is an absolute scream."
