THE first Chief Crown Prosecutor of York's Crown Prosecution Service has died, aged 67.
Duncan McCallum Sharp, worked for the North Yorkshire and Cleveland service, which was set up in October 1986, and retired in 1995. He was born and educated in Wakefield, attending the University of Leeds.
Before joining the Crown Prosecution Service, Mr Sharp was deputy town clerk of Bridlington, and a county prosecuting solicitor. He received the CBE in 1994.
He died of cancer in St Leonard's Hospice, York, on June 1. He leaves a widow, Maureen, daughters Janet, Kathryn and Alison, sons Andrew and Iain, and ten grandchildren. His funeral will be held at St Helen's Church, Wheldrake, tomorrow, at 10.45am.
