SHERBURN White Rose Junior FC have netted a new clubhouse, thanks to the Football Foundation, the UK's largest sports charity.
The foundation has provided the club's 250 members with a £329,935 grant to build a pavilion at Sherburn Recreation Ground, housing four team changing areas, two officials rooms, a treatment room, committee room, kitchen and a multi purpose clubroom.
Thirteen 13 teams have had to share just two changing rooms, but the club hopes the new clubhouse will see further teams established, including two new junior teams and
an under 17 team.
Additional women and girls teams will be formed and the
club will also host mini-football festivals and small-sided football fun days.
Disabled footballers will also be offered opportunities at the site. Three of the coaching staff have completed the disabled coaching course to open up opportunities for children with disabilities to play football at the club. Four more are to complete their specialist coaching qualifications.
The Football Foundation is funded by the FA Premier League, the Football Association, Sport England and the Government. The Football Foundation is the nation's largest sports charity with a £53m budget.
