Background to the new City manager...
Chris Brass:
Position: midfield/sweeperBorn: July 24, 1975, EasingtonOther Clubs: Burnley, Torquay (loan), Halifax Town (loan), York City
Chris Brass joined York in March 2001 from Burnley with a reputation for having a fierce determination, and to underline his standing in the game, he was handed the armband on his City debut when he came on as substitute.
Also a skipper during his time at Turf Moor, he took on the role full-time at Bootham Crescent the following season from the departed Steve Agnew.
The then 25-year-old was brought to the club by the man he replaced as City chief, Terry Dolan, and has proved to be perhaps the best signing the departing boss made during his three-and-a-half-year tenure.
Brass, now 27, began his professional career at the Clarets in 1993-94 after making the grade as a trainee. Apart from a brief stint on loan at Torquay United, for whom he played seven matches in 1994-95, Brass spent all of his career with Burnley until he moved down two divisions to come to Bootham Crescent.
He played more than 170 games for the Clarets, with his only senior goal coincidentally coming against City in a 7-2 drubbing in January 1998.
He was their clubman of the year in 1997, an accolade he also won with City last season to go with his Evening Press player of the year award.
Lee Nogan
Position: striker
Born: May 21, 1969, Cardiff
Other clubs: Oxford, Brentford, Southend, Watford, Reading, Notts County, Grimsby, Darlington, Luton
Honours: Wales Under-21, B, two full caps.
Lee Nogan has passed two notable landmarks during his York City tenure.
The season before last he bagged his 100th League goal while in the last campaign he also surpassed the 500 League appearance landmark.
Despite having just two international caps, Nogan's international career spanned more than three years.
He earned his first cap in April 1992 at the age 22, coming on as a substitute in a 1-1 draw with Austria in Vienna.
Nogan had to wait until September 1995 to earn his next and final cap as Wales beat Moldova 1-0 in a European Championship qualifier, Gary Speed scoring the only goal of the game at Ninian Park.
Nogan has made four appearances and scored one goal at Wembley.
He made his first appearance and scored his only Wembley goal in the 1995 First Division play-off final as Nogan and Reading lost 4-3 to Bolton.
He returned to Wembley twice in 1998, helping Grimsby win promotion in the Second Division play-off final with a 1-0 win over Northampton and also helping the Mariners beat Bournemouth 2-1 in the Auto Windscreen Shield Final.
Nogan was also in the Darlington squad that lost the Division Three play-off final 1-0 to Peterborough in 2000.
Nogan came off the bench in the final, replacing former York City striker Peter Duffield.
