THE second York match at Laybourne Lakes proved promising with half of the 44-entry on Marley Lake recording double-figure catches.
Bob Keay (Bramley Nomads) led from peg 53 on the end of the island. Alternating pellet and maggot, he had a 6lb carp, plus tench and small carp at 11 metres for 33-8-0.
Bob Lewis (New Earswick) was on peg 46 on the same island, where he used pole and pellet for an all-carp 28-8-0 which included a bonus fish of 10-8-0.
Kev White (Acomb) had a more diverse net for third place and included a 2lb perch, plus lots of small perch and rudd, in his bag of 25lb 11oz.
Others: Chris Vipas (Black Horse) 25-3-0, Paul Garnett (Tang Hall Match Group) 20-1-0 and Stuart Wilson (Armley Angling) 19-6-0.
The fish at Carpvale have been spawning this week, hence the drop in weights for the Mitre Angling match on Cyprio Lake.
Pete Flower led with a creditable 78lb 14oz from peg. Fishing a small in-line feeder to the island he netted 23 carp to 4lb. Wayne Barker took second from peg 1 with 73lb 6oz ahead of M Addinall 42lb oz, K Barker 33lb 13oz and B Klar on 31lb 3oz.
Saturday's Open on Coot Pond at Tollerton went to Jeff Hardy with a nice mixed net of 34lb. Fishing pole and corn at 11 metres, he took a 7lb carp, plus plenty of small carp and tench.
Kev Gilligan was second alternating corn, pellet and meat for a mixed net of carp and tench scaling 33lb 12oz.
Dean Smith (Trabucco Elton) pulled out corner peg 63a to top the 57-entry on Maple Lake at the Oaks.
Offering pole and pellet Trabucco backed-Smith had carp to 3lb in a winning net of 49lb 8oz.
There was a tie for second with John McGarell (MAP Elton) and Chris Hall (Oaks) both netting a small carp-haul of 46lb 4oz. Both anglers used pole and pellet tight to the island from pegs 56 and 65 respectively.
Others: Mark Whittaker (Starbeck) 34-4-0, Tony Neesom (Elton Tackle) 32-8-0 and Martin Whittaker (Harrogate Angling Supplies) 29-8-0.
Current Kamasan holder Smith now holds the three best weights this year at the Woodlands complex after topping Wednesday's 72-peg Open with 117lb 11oz.
Drawn Partridge 36, he offered small pieces of meat fished shallow over loose fed meat at 13 metres for carp to 3lb.
Young Andy Geldart (Daiwa Goldthorpe) started a profitable week with second on the same method to net carp to 6lb and chub from Partridge 35 for 95lb 14oz.
Others: Steve Wood (Leeds Police) 92-3-0, Alan Scotthorne (Shimano Mustad) 79-6-0, Len Towhey (EJ Tackle) 73-10-0 and Mick Webb (Armley Angling) 71-2-0.
The positions were reversed on Saturday when Geldart topped the 71-peg sell-out on Skylark and Partridge with 87lb 13oz.
Fishing shallow with meat proved effective from Skylark four with plenty of carp to 3lb coming his way.
Smith had to settle for second after a nightmare match on Skylark one.
Fish after fish were lost as all his elastics broke during the contest. He still managed 77lb 10oz of carp to 7lb fishing meat into the corner.
Others: Dave Pimlott (Drennan Elton) 69-3-0, Daryll Taylor (Daiwa Goldthorpe) 65-12-0, Brian Sowerby (Knaresborough) 57-1-0 and Simon Wood (MAP Elton) 56-5-0.
The recent warm weather has really got the carp moving on Goldrush Lake at the Willows. Dave Pollit (Hirst Tackle) topped the latest 47-pegger with 64lb 8oz.
The best weight this year came from peg 35 and was taken on pole and pellet at nine metres. Fishing just a foot deep, the ace they call Pollit netted a host of carp from 12oz to 4lb.
Second went to regular successful Willows competitor Tony Hewson (Armley Angling) who also used pole and pellet. Targeting the sunken island in peg 50 he netted carp to 4lb for 57lb 2oz.
Others: Mick Lodge (Colmic Ossett) 45-12-0, Paul Gallagher (Willows) 45-4-0, Mick Seale (Willows) 44-4-0 and Mal Proctor (Daiwa Goldthorpe) 44-2-0.
