VISITORS to Castle Howard can go back in time and relive one of the stately home's most significant events.
A fire ripped through the building in 1940, destroying parts of the south-east wing and some valuable works of art.
At the time the home was occupied by 150 pupils from Queen Margaret's School in Scarborough.
Visitors can now get an apparent first-hand experience of the dramatic event with an outdoor tour looking at the areas most affected.
They will meet actress Linda Watts, who plays Miss Brown, a character who gives her account of what happened that night.
