WILD animals at a North Yorkshire zoo have found themselves in a mysterious ancient city - thanks to a local business.
FabFX, based in Wetherby's Thorp Arch Industrial Estate, are experts at creating themed environments. Their latest project was to create a "lost world" at Flamingo Land zoo, near Malton.
The project meant transforming the zoo's new tiger and lynx enclosure, which includes a five- metre high wall, walkway and viewing platform, so it looks as though it was once part of an ancient city.
All the features, including stone blocks, wooden and steel doors and even the ironmongery, were hand-carved by the company's craft experts. Specialist paint finishes were applied to add a weathered look. The company also repairs and recreates ornate stone features and creates garden, play and water features.
