THERE is no doubt which of York's past invaders have the best PR. With the Jorvik centre and festival, the Vikings are the dominant brand.
Now, however, the Romans are making a comeback. And not before time.
The founders of Eboracum in AD71 have left their mark across the city we now call York, from the column outside the Minster to the newly-unearthed military camp at Monks Cross.
So we are delighted to learn that there is to be a Roman festival in York this summer. At the very least, it is a good excuse for a toga party.
