A HUNT for treasure is set to bring riches for York's St Leonard's Hospice.

The event, being planned by Mercedes-Benz of North Yorkshire, for Thursday August 14, is a car treasure hunt.

It starts at 7pm from the Mercedes-Benz dealership at Clifton Moor, York. A series of clues and questions will take the hunters on a circular route through the countryside and villages north of York, and back for a reception at Clifton Moor.

Entry will cost £60 per car, including up to four people, and will include a buffet supper. There will be prizes for the team that gets most clues correct - with a tie-breaker if necessary - as well as a tombola and raffle, with more chances of winning.

All proceeds will go towards St Leonard's Hospice, to help in its work of caring for local people with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Janet Morley, hospice fundraising manager, said: "A gentle drive through beautiful landscape, a few clues to unravel and a supper at the end - what more do you need on a summer evening, except the knowledge that you are helping others, too?"
