A RETIRED Malton solicitor has been found hanged at his home.
The North Yorkshire East Coroner, Michael Oakley, has opened and adjourned an inquest on John Atkinson, 72, of Broughton, who was formerly in practice with Drivers in Market Street, Malton.
Police said Mr Atkinson had been found in the garage.
He started his career with Pearson and Ward, an old-established practice in Malton, then moved to York for James Driver's practice before returning to Malton to run the company's practice in the town. He retired six years ago. A keen sportsman, Mr Atkinson was involved with Broughton, Swinton and Amotherby sports centre.
