YORK'S visit to Hull's new Inglemire Lane ground saw them emerge from a crushing 64 runs Yorkshire ECB Premier League victory in a low-scoring game.
It was hard labour of Siberian proportions as the pitch was drying under a strong sun after a heavy deluge the previous day.
Hull hoped to exploit this by inserting York, who endured a tortuous start as Australian bowler Jez Varos and RAF quickie Steve Sergeant exploited the uneven bounce.
Steve Piercy, Mike Mortimer and Jeetan Patel battled it out at a mere two runs an over, but inevitably perished to the moving ball. At 60-6 York were struggling but with 25 overs remaining.
Will Warne and Duncan Snell buckled down to work up a defendable total. Snell departed to a snorter and Tom Pringle came in to earn his third not out of the weekend as he helped Warne to an undefeated seventh-wicket partnership of 51 which gave York a total of 139-7.
Hull lost early wickets to Snell and then Patel's off-spin began to work their way through the Hull batting which was not prepared to graft for runs as York had done.
Greg How returned for Snell and soon made further inroads to the Hull reply. However, John Fisher was holding firm and his strong hitting was a threat but he was eighth out at 69 to a How lifter.
Fittingly, the two youngsters Snell and Pringle, who both enjoyed a good weekend personally, finished Hull off to give York a maximum points League weekend.
York' three teenage all-rounders Dan Broadbent, Duncan Snell and Tom Pringle, have been selected to play for the Yorkshire Academy in a three-day fixture, starting tomorrow against the Durham Academy.
Scarborough won a dramatic game at Appleby Frodingham by two wickets, Richard Gilbert hitting a six off the last ball.
