Division Six of the IT Sports Mixed Tennis League provided the closest of finishes of the week with two matches ending in draws and both teams keeping their unbeaten records.

Wistow travelled to New Earswick and played in one of the few matches to beat the rain and came from behind after the first round to lead by one game going into the final round and end up with a share of the spoils.

Jill Marsden and Neil Richardson were unbeaten for Wistow and Jenny Rossington and Keith Pearson for Earswick.

Civil Service saved their undefeated record, meanwhile, after visiting Cawood in an equally close encounter and take third place behind Wistow on games difference.

They are just one point behind leaders Sutton-on-Derwent, who entertained Dunnington and won 62-46 to stay at top.

No change in places in division one, although Fulford have now joined one of four teams with four points after their defeat of Poppleton second team thanks to the unbeaten Julie Reilly and Neil Haw winning 25 games ahead of Jill McCreedy and Dave Bradley.

York third team had a solid win against Dunnington and slot in just behind Wheldrake, who visited York fourths and won convincingly 63-45 with Helen Roe and Dave Parish winning all three rubbers 11-1.

Strensall were the victim of both Riccall and Wigginton in division four after their visits to both clubs.

Riccall took their first points with Sue Warren and Mark Harris winning 28 games matched by Wigginton's Karen Espiner and Andy Walker.

Heworth won their match against Riccall in division five, for whom Helen Larkin and Ron Barnett top-scored with 25 games.

Cawood maintain top spot after the visit of Stillington, for whom the unbeaten Sue Matchett and Eddie Burton won 24 games but were matched by Stillington's Kate Dyer and Peter Simpson.

York made it three out of three in division seven with a win against Rowntree Park and take top spot, with Rufforth moving up after their win at Strensall led by Judith Evans and Andy Ivel. They won 33 games ahead of Ruth Gregory and David Laws with 26 games.

Wilberfoss go to the top of division eight with wins against Wheldrake and then at Bubwith. Sonia Davies and John Latham top-scored in both matches and were well supported by Louise and Patrick Wilkinson.

Escrick started their season with a win at Civil Service in division ten in a close match score winning eight of the rubbers either 7-5 or 8-4.

Alne, one of the new teams in division eleven, have still to get a point after losing at Appleton Roebuck and at New Earswick despite the best efforts of Angie and Dave Pearson who won 29 and 30 games in each match.

Another two new teams met when Next Generation entertained Heworth and took the win with a 66-42 win led by Chantal Lancaster and Reza Ghadiri with 25 games, despite the best efforts of Heworth's unbeaten Anne Gray and Loch Trimmingham.
