Nestle Rowntree Athletics Club veterans Maria Williams and Fiona Crompton sparkled at the Northern Veterans' Athletics Championships at St Helens.
Williams, returning to competition after a year out because of a frozen shoulder and recently recovered from a broken foot, achieved two championship best performances in the 55-60 age group. She won the high jump with 1.10 metres and triumphed in the 200 metres in a time of 33.7seconds.
Crompton, a teacher at The Mount School, won silver in the 45-50 age group javelin with a throw of 23 metres, her best for two years. She also won silver in the shot, with a putt of 7.46m.
