AN AMAZING deal of a flight to the sun for only £1 was on offer to York shoppers.
But those snapping up the spoof deal won't be jetting off anywhere - instead they were taking part in a Friends of the Earth (FoE) protest against airport expansion.
Under the slogan "plane crazy", York and Ryedale FoE members were asking people to sign a postcard expressing concern over government airport expansion plans.
All the cards collected at Saturday's protest were then being sent to local MPs.
An FoE spokesman said: "The Government is currently considering the future of air transport in the UK. It is planning a massive increase in air travel over the next 30 years. This would mean the expansion of airports and building of new ones, all with knock-on effects on communities across the UK, not just people living near airports."
