Yorkshire captain Anthony McGrath picked up a side strain during his sensational Test debut at Lord's and England have arranged for him to have a scan tomorrow to determine the extent of the damage.
If it is felt that McGrath can bat without doing any further harm, he will lead Yorkshire in their crucial fourth round Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy tie against Worcestershire at New Road on Wednesday.
McGrath hit a sparkling 69 in his first Test innings and then followed this up by grabbing three wickets for 16 runs as Zimbabwe were beaten in three days by an innings and 92 runs.
Although no-one realised it at the time, McGrath strained his right side in the field before coming on to bowl but he did not let it stop him getting through six eventful overs.
Yorkshire's director of cricket Geoff Cope today paid tribute to McGrath for his Test match performance.
"Those of us who know Anthony were aware that he was capable of playing the sort of innings he did," said Cope.
"A debut Test match is always a nervous time but Anthony never showed he was under any stress.
"He played with great confidence and enjoyed using his feet to the left-arm spinner to hit him over the top.
"Anthony appreciates that playing against against Australia would have been very different but, nevertheless, not many cricketers have produced a debut as good as that."
Cope will be at Bradford and Bingley's Wagon Lane ground tomorrow and over the following two days to monitor the performance of the second team who play Nottinghamshire in a three-day Championship match.
It is an important game for several players who are pushing for first team places, not least Gavin Hamilton who will have another chance to show that he is getting over his bowling problems.
England all-rounder Craig White took another step at the weekend towards a full recovery from his rib operation when he scored 74 for Scarborough in their Yorkshire League match against Rotherham at North Marine Road.
Yorkshire Seconds: Richardson, Taylor, Craven, Hamilton, Dawson, Bresnan, Swanepoel, Lawson, Thornicroft, Kirby.
