A YORK school worker has proved she is top of the class.
Sandra Wadley, 58, who works at Hob Moor Community Primary School, has scooped an Adult Learner's Award for outstanding achievement.
Sandra, from Acomb, won the award - a certificate and £100 prize money from the National Institute of Adult and Continuing Education - for her achievement on a University of York Continuing Education course.
She left school at 14 with no qualifications, but decided to study history on the university course.
She said: "I've always loved history and this course was just right for me."
Sandra has worked as a lunchtime supervisor at Hob Moor for 25 years, before becoming one of the first students to enrol on the continuing education programme at the university designed for people who have been out of education for a long time.
