HE went to see the Be Good Tanyas, but concert promoter Nigel Burnham decided support act Erin Mckeown would be better for his Americana showcases at The Band Room, in Low Mill, Farndale.
"That was a few weeks ago in Newcastle, when Erin blew them off stage," says Nigel. "The next day I called Erin's agent desperate to book her for The Band Room... and he offered us the same date we'd already been offered Jesse Sykes and Laura Veirs. Not wanting to miss out on any of them we bit the bullet and decided to do a triple headline bill."
Erin, Jesse and Laura will play at Low Mill on Saturday, July 12 at 7pm. Doors will open at 6.30pm, and the rush for £15 tickets is already under way. To book, ring Cathy Meeus on 0207 272 4406.
Jesse, by the way, previously performed at The Band Room in January. "Jesse and Phil Wandscher played with all the odds stacked against them, not least the local electric company, which pulled off the extraordinary feat of six power cuts in the space of 45 minutes," recalls Nigel. "Nevertheless they delivered an awesome show - very sexy, very sultry - and said they wanted to come back for more. The feeling was mutual."
