SIR Paul McCartney has re-scheduled his postponed Sheffield show for May 29. His April 6 concert at the Hallam FM Arena had been called off at the last minute after a heavy cold rendered him unable to sing.
Tickets for that night remain valid for the new date, which comes after Beatle Paul completes his European tour.
His 150-minute set of 36 songs includes 22 Beatles numbers - some never played live in Britain until this Back In The World tour - and a dozen selections from his Wings and solo period.
"I have a lot of nostalgia for Sheffield from playing there in the Beatles and always enjoying it. Now I see it as a rocking music city," says Sir Paul.
"I think people are going to like this gig: when I was thinking of what songs to play I just imagined myself as one of the audience and thought 'What would I like to hear him play?'. So that means we'll be playing some of my Beatles stuff - rather a lot of Beatles stuff, actually - some Wings stuff and some more recent stuff.
"So basically the show pretty much spans my whole career, and I'm really getting off on playing it all with my new band. Their energy and musicianship is phenomenal."
In the McCartney band are Rusty Anderson and Brian Ray on guitars, Paul 'Wix' Wickens on keyboards and Abe Laboriel Jr on drums.
