TUNEFUL pupils from a York special school had their musical dreams come true when they recorded their own CD.
The Fulford Cross students, who have learning difficulties, descended on the Cube Media Studios at York College to create an album of songs from shows.
They recorded classics such as Edelweiss, from The Sound Of Music, and other tracks from The Jungle Book, Whistle Down The Wind and Andrew Lloyd Webber's popular musical, Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Nicola Betts, the school's music co-ordinator, said: "It was a lovely day - the kids really enjoyed it. It gave a really positive musical experience and is a real achievement."
The pupils practised the songs for several months before entering the studio.
Music teacher Phil Thwaite played guitar and bass on the album, with Dave Harding on drums.
The school has been awarded a £4,500 New Opportunities Fund to create three CDs.
"It's not just about the end product, but the whole process involved," Nicola said.
