EVER wanted to know why Edward ll once named medieval York the filthiest city in England?
This weekend, the Countess of Strathearn, played by Shona Griffiths, pictured above, will show visitors to Clifford's Tower just how disgusting the city actually was.
She will describe infections, diseases and treatments of the Middle Ages, with cures including leeches and snails.
She will also show glasses of tapeworm and other parasites.
