A SLOW drip of success is turning into a torrent for Harrogate Spa Water.
The firm, which recently became a world's best by scooping a gold medal at the prestigious Berkely Springs International Water Tasting Awards in West Virginia in the US, has struck a deal with supermarket group Sainsbury's to supply its water to both its York stores - in Fossbank and Monks Cross - as well as in Harrogate.
Harrogate Spa's still water is already on sale at several major supermarket chains across the country, but Sainsbury's is the first to start the sparkling variety in 1.5 litre bottles.
Harrogate Spa is Britain's original spa water discovered in 1571 and first bottled in 1650. The company was launched in May last year, reviving the once-thriving bottled water industry in Harrogate 30 years after the last bottling plant closed.
The water is sourced from rocks 150 ft below ground and is renowned for a well-balanced mineral content, being low in sodium and having a slightly sweet taste.
