ON May 10 I very much enjoyed a concert presented by the York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir with the Muker Silver Band at the Tempest Anderson Hall.
However, I was appalled that there could scarcely have been 100 people in the audience. Surely this must have represented a financial loss to the sponsors.
It struck me that much more could have been accomplished in the sale of tickets by better advertising and possibly greater individual efforts on the part of the members of the choir.
Concerts like this one should be promoted far more strongly. The citizens of York, together with the many tourists, are missing out, apart from the participating choir and band missing out financially where there should be a justified reward.
