FOLLOWING the letter from David Buist of Upper Poppleton (May 10), I should like to set the record straight about our policy on serving tap water to the public.
Without exception, we do not charge any customer if they ask for a glass of tap water. However, we do stock and serve sparkling and still mineral water by the bottle.
It was for a bottle of still mineral water that Mr Buist was charged £1.20, which compared favourably with many bars and restaurants I have visited. It is a most competitive price.
